I tried to get most of the poses and surroundings to be the same as Nan Goldin's, which is why I'm talking on the phone on the left side, and the laptop in between is meant to be the "book" in Goldin's artwork. How I sit on the right side however is different, I tried to lie down, but you couldn't see as much as I wanted to, that's why I decided to sit up instead.
What I want to say with my artwork, and how I relate to it myself, is teenagers today.
Wherever we go people always fiddle with their smartphones or other electronics, we can barely live without them. Here I'm trying to show how we always talk on the phone (left side), or sit with our tablets, or just the fact that we're always online.
How I see myself in this is the fact that I, like many others, can barely live without Internet, as sad as it sounds. I don't know why, but I can definitely say that I'm addicted to it, but I don't remember how it all started.
On the photo you can see me talking on the phone (left side), but not really showing any interests or expressions. I don't really like talking to people on the phone, I rather text, but I somehow wanted to show that I still do it because I just simply can get away from my phone, whatever the reason may be. The other side of the picture I'm looking away from the tablet , the reason for this has something to do with the fact that I want to get away from it, but I can't. My hands are still holding pretty tight onto the tablet, showing that I just can't let go even though I'm trying to not pay attention to what's on the screen.
